Spirit stops for a moment, on the crest of a sand dune at Mesquite Flats in Death Valley, to look back at me as I trail along. Getting Spirit to model for me never worked by me placing her somewhere and making her stay. Instead I'd have to figure out where I want to shoot her at and from what angle of light, then walk to that spot by the direction of the angle I want. Invariably, she would run ahead and wait for me near each crest, allowing me moments to photographer her.
