If you want solitude, hike out into the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes for half a mile or so. What you will find is the near feeling of being alone on this world, except of course if you brought your dog along; then what you will find is some idiot chasing his dog from sand dune to sand dune and falling over laughing from the antics of such a happy dog in such a wide open space.
