My 'Limited-Edition' reproductions are in small varied edition sets of 25 or 50. When the edition sells out, the image is retired! They are meant to be scarce, collectible, and potentially appreciate as an art investment in time. To that end, that last 5 of 25 and 10 of 50 will certainly cost more than those first ones, so when the edition sells out and the image is retired, early collectors theoretically will gain an appreciation in value – without me even having to die first – and that is great for everyone! I was very thoughtful about that part, Haha.
Each is titled, and uniquely numbered & signed by me, then documented for authenticity. Since signatures are never the same due to variations in brush stroke & pressure, the unique edition number and signature creates uniqueness and solidifies providence. Because of this, the reproduction can never be forged or reproduced, and if so would literally have zero art value, beyond the cost of the materials used.
Maybe all that art stuff above is meaningless to you. Some people just like a pretty picture and don't care about all that other mumbo jumbo, nor want to pay for it. It's fine if so, I get it. This is why I also have a very large product line of 'Open Edition' imagery, which are substantially more affordable, just as great in image quality, and available to be ordered and produced on demand through my website with limited options as art décor prints and gifts. All open-edition imagery can also be custom ordered with all the same and finest materials and production quality used with my finest artwork.
All open and limited-edition reproductions are governed by a single original image, known as the original artist's proof. This master is the one that has been fully processed to my tastes and either hard-proofed or soft-proofed to my printing profiles. All limited-reproductions are copied from that specific file and then customized with minimal edits for the specifications of the order. Minimal edits include numbering, signing, enlargement, and printer soft-proofing for color balance. In the case of open edition reproductions, one single copy is made from the proof to generically work with all printing needs, and receives no further editing, unless as part of a custom order. In most cases, a single artist's proof exists (A.P. 1/1), however in some of my older work, I allowed for up to three artist's proofs to exist, each specific to one printing medium type (e.g. paper, metal, canvas)
In many cases, the original artist's proof for any edition type is available for purchase for a higher premium than the reproductions, since they are much more scarce. Those that are already physically produced cannot be customized and are offered are as-is. Those that have yet to be physically produced are available for custom order to your specification, save for minimum size restrictions.
Love the image but not the presentation? Custom orders of open editions and limited-editions with next available edition number by size, medium, & finishing are easy. Artwork title can also be suppressed without printing, or enabled in custom printing, depending upon product line. ASK FOR DETAILS
