Wawona Meadow Wood

Wawona Meadow Wood

"The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be." ~ Robert Fulghum

In the Wawona section of Yosemite National Park exists Wawona Meadow. Throughout the meadow at points along the Wawona Meadow Loop are great long sections of this beautiful split-rail fencing. At one time it may have had functional purpose, but these days is pretty much aesthetic for a much more nobel purpose. Why hike the Wawona Meadow Loop? Well, if you think no one could possibly look at a beautiful meadow in the middle of a national park and say "Hey, let's put a golf course here!", you're mistaken.
