Shooting The Rapids

Shooting The Rapids

Here is a sequence of shots of one of my new friends, Jeremy Garling, from my Colorado River rafting adventure through the Grand Canyon. Jeremy is the one holding the yellow Go Pro camera in all the shots near the front of the raft. Filming everything with a Go Pro in one hand means only one hand is left to hold on for dear life. In this sequence of shots, Jeremy literally gets flipped upside down, yet with one hand still manages to hold on, while still filming the event with his other hand. Look at the final shot of him with both legs up in the air, and then look towards where his face should be, and you will see that guy was still getting the shot. When I was shooting this event, I saw something or someone look like it flipped up and overboard, so I immediately yelled out to my raft guides "Man Overboard!". Al looked over at the raft but didn't see any signs of emergency, so he told me it was probably just a soda or beer drag bag flipping up in the air. Later that night when reviewing the shots, I then realized I was partially right. Jeremy flipped completely over, but managed to stay in the raft. What a great time!
