It takes great spirit and strength to put up with 20 people you are responsible for keeping alive for 8 days on the river. When it came to the last rapid of the 188 mile course -- the famous "Lava Falls" -- Mac surprised us all when he emerged from the raft's motor-well donning this outfit like he was some sort of rabid cross between Hello Kitty, and Josie and the Pussycats -- and we oddly knew we were all safe.

The raft's erupted with glee and joy upon this sight...it was not that we needed any good humor in the moment, the successful running of all rapids took care of that...but the jovial spirit displayed by Mac throughout the 8 day course sort of created the space for even greater joy and satisfaction.
