After a layover at Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon, we bid farewell to 5 of our friends from the first 3 days, and welcomed the new 14 people replacing them, who hiked in from the South Rim. Watching Mac and Maggie, the boat crew, break them in gently with a nice set of medium rapids right after getting back on the river was a good introduction for better stuff to come.
