Harvest Moon Under Sinking Sun
"And Fall, with her yeller harvest moon and the hills growin' brown and golden under a sinkin' sun." ~ Roy Bean
It was a unique opportunity to capture this full Harvest Moon, while camping in the wilderness of the Grand Canyon's North Rim. The full moon started its rise at 5:50pm with the sun setting on the opposite end of the sky at 6:20pm, leaving me this very short window of time to catch the crisp details of the yellow moon rising, with a hint of the grand foreground. As the last of the sunlight receded across the Kaibab Plateau and past the scar of the Colorado River, its light lingered for a few last moments on Vermilion Cliffs in the distance.
