Red Fox is named "Máii iiłtsoí" in the Navajo language. Like the Gray Fox, the Red Fox is said to posses a mystical healing power, and is used by Navajo Medicine Men during winter ceremonies as well as being viewed as the messenger, wise teacher, and spirit guide for those who ask then listen -- helping people navigate both the seen and unseen worlds -- offering insights into your current circumstances and prompting you to embrace change or trust your intuition. The vibrant red color of the fox also symbolizes a need to tap into and reconnect to your inner fire, vitality, passion, energy, and emotional depth; ultimately to pursue your goals with renewed enthusiasm. The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is the largest of the true foxes and the most geographically spread member of the Carnivora, being distributed across the entire northern hemisphere. They are omnivores, feeding mostly on small mammals, birds, and reptiles, but also on fruits, berries and nuts. Red Foxes tend to live at lower elevations than the Grey Fox, are often found near homes within desert lands and pinon-juniper woodlands, and are fairly common residents on the Navajo Nation, which really is the only part of Arizona where the Red Fox distribution gets to.
