Vishnu Shist Nanu Nanu

Vishnu Shist Nanu Nanu

Sorry for the cornball title, but it is darn near impossible for me to say the words "Vishnu Shist", and not immediately think to myself "nanu nanu", in late and great reference to the character Mork From Ork, from the old "Mork And Mindy" show. While the character Mork never said Vishnu Shist, it just sounds like him swearing before he says good bye. While Mork and his goofy sayings may not stand the test of time, this black Vishnu Shist does, as it displays multiple thick and erratic stripes of pink Zoroaster Granite inclusions through it.

Zoroaster granite is classified as a coarse-grained pegmatite comprised of quartz, alkali-feldspar, mica and hornblende. It is formed by partial melting of the lower crust during its deformation over a billion years ago. The Precambrian Vishnu Schist and Zoroaster Granite are considered to be the basement foundation upon which the overlying strata of the Grand Canyon are built.
