I recently visited Ashurst Lake, south of Flagstaff, for the first time. Over the 4 mile drive what stood out to me the most is the abundance of dead oak tree snags, which tend to have lots of character, but in a land of so many snags, surely there is something that must like to roost on them. It didn't take long to realize that there are enough Osprey around Ashurst Lake to support so many snags. And if there are that many Osprey, then that means it is a good fishing lake.

With some patience and pattern observing, I was able to catch this Osprey coming in for a landing on his favorite snap to enjoy some fresh trout.
