If you have Cardinal as an Animal Totem, you have a strong sense of honor and know how to pick yourself up after setbacks. You have a natural aptitude toward innovation and determination. Whatever “it” is – you stick things out until the very end.
While blazing a sandy mesquite trail through the desert looking for uncommon scenes of the Salt River wild horses, this fella showed up for me along my river hike, exactly when I was starting to question myself about path and goal. As if he could sense in that moment that I was really digging deep within myself trying to push through my hesitations with innovation and determination, his song rang out and stopped me in my tracks. It was that moment back to presence and getting out of my head that I needed. I worked with him for a little while, until his mate called him back to the nest. The delay was what I needed...slowing me down enough to suddenly catch a band of horses on the other side come down to the water and cross right next to me.
