Sandstone Sundae Sunset Toppings

Sandstone Sundae Sunset Toppings

More White Pocket...this is what happens when sunset meets virga and smoke tainted air...I desaturated twice and still seems unbelievable...it was one of those magical sunsets.

~ Sandstone Sundae Sunset Toppings ~

White Pocket, hidden within the desert expanse of the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, near the Arizona/Utah border, is a phantasmagorical collection of colorful cross-bedded cliffs, where the formations heave and drip like some kind of geological ice cream sundae of sherbet covered in marshmallow puffs and other candied confections melting in the sun. At sunset however, a new table of toppings are served to provided complete and utter sweetness before bedtime. And then to look to the North where the Grande-Escalante Staircase National Monument picks up where this land leaves off, leading all the way up the multiple steps in the far distance to Bryce Canyon National Park, that with this sight I am merely sitting at the kid's table with my candied delight.

Erosion carved, painted with warm hues, and utterly breath-taking, the landscapes that surround White Pocket eventually show up on every outdoor enthusiast’s life list. The enchanting geology of the area around Page Arizona has enticed me over and over again.
