Jökulsárlón Judy

Jökulsárlón Judy

Judy Graham takes on the black-pebbled and glacial-ice-littered beach near Jökulsárlón (translated as "glacial river lagoon"). The nearby lagoon fills up with calved chunks of glacial ice, until strong river currents push them, and nearby ocean tides draw them, out to sea. Once in the ocean, the churning surf crashes them into each other, breaking them down into smaller pieces that the waves can then more easily deposit them on the beaches. With each strong wave, more ice is deposited and existing beached cubes are tossed around into new positions, making this an ever-changing shoot that you really have to keep on your toes for, and be ready to run fast with sure steps.
