“Trust the instinct to the end, though you can render no reason” ~ Ralph Waldo Emersonbr/br/When you have a dog that is a cross between a Border Collie and Australian Shepard, even if its never been around a farm or herding environment, be prepared for a dog that is built for instinct without reason. My dog Spirit stayed at my side for a little while, while this Elk and I exchanged glances from across the small meadow, but eventually she could stand it no more and instinct ruled the day. I have no idea what she thought she was going to do if she caught this young bull elk, but she sure as heck enjoyed the chase, while he easily and gracefully disappeared into the forest. She came back feeling so proud of herself, and I admittedly enjoyed watching and catching the moment.
