Ruined And Evocative
“There is, I find, something very evocative about ruins - particularly recent ones." ~ Joel Knight
The first stone wall encountered outside the Devil's Chasm Cliff Ruins was a bit unexpected. Not because we didn't expect to see it, but unexpected because of the way it was fashioned and designed. This wall is not part of the structure itself, rather it looks like a sentry wall stuck out from the cliff and blocking the trail, save for a narrow way around it on the literal edge of the cliff. What also makes this wall distinct from the rest of the ruins is that this wall makes absolutely no use of mud. Clearly it was built at some point after the main structure was erected, but how long after I have no idea.
Perhaps it was erected long after maybe by not even the same peoples, or perhaps this wall had to suffer many assaults and subsequently many hurried re-buildings. Mud may not have always been available. Despite the lack of mud, the craftsmanship of this wall is detailed and exact.
