Curved Pleasures Of The Journey
"Straight lines go too quickly to appreciate the pleasures of the journey. They rush straight to their target and then die in the very moment of their triumph without having thought, loved, suffered or enjoyed themselves." ~ Rene Crevel
With the last remaining bits of direct sunset about to fade, my eye was caught by the wonder of the sandstone feature known as "Wave II", found in Coyote Buttes of the Vermilion Cliffs / Paria Canyon Wilderness. One of the attractions I have to the feature is how the shadowed lines of the various sandstone fin-ridges leading up to it are perfect in an imperfect way. Indeed the variance in the size and curve of each leading line produces far more loveliness than if they were uniform and leading straight to the subject, without much character...
"As if each curved line were like a person on their journey through life, you can begin to feel and appreciate that each of us holds our own unique beauty within -- Our curve, if you will -- a by-product of the forces around us, eroding our forms over time into unique and twisted beauties of perfect imperfection, as we each journey our own way to the same ultimate destination." ~ Jack Mountain
