Fallen Whispers

Fallen Whispers

“The fall of a leaf is a whisper to the living” ~ Russian Proverb

Photographed while hiking along the West Fork trail of Oak Creek, near Sedona, Arizona. Autumn in this canyon has arrived and if it was not at its peak, it was just a couple days away. One does not have to hike far, nor off the path, to see every hue of red, every hue of orange, every hue of yellow, every hue of green, and every hue of brown, all in one view. There was so much beauty I found myself wanting to shoot it all and sort it out later, but my better senses remained enough in control for me to realize I could take my time and look for choice shots, because there was no shortage of those either.

Here is one shot I had along the trail that really caught my eye. The composition of the scene was perfect and natural, and with the right crouching perspective when shooting, I knew I could accentuate it. The fallen log with fallen leaves, all returning to their roots truly were like fallen whispers of the forest’s grand story.
