One Of Freedom's Many Expressions
"A moth-eaten rag on a worm-eaten pole
It does not look likely to stir a man's soul,
'Tis the deeds that were done 'neath the moth-eaten rag,
When the pole was a staff, and the rag was a flag."
~Sir Edward B. Hamley, 1824-1893.
I stumbled upon this quote and it made me think of this image of mine. I'm always fascinated by the response this has provoked from others I have shared it with in the past. Some... see this and their first reaction is something along the lines of judging the flag owner to be a poor patriot who does not properly honor the flag. When I saw this, I saw Wind-lashed patriotism overlooking Roosevelt Lake and Four Peaks behind it. There is more to the human side of this story, but I'll leave that out for now and let you judge the image by is emotion it invokes.
