Dynamic Living Mechanisms
"What we seem to want is a statistically homogenized picture of a species, when we really need to look at bears as dynamic, living mechanisms." ~ Dr. Barrie Gilbert
While on the Wapama Falls trail in the Hetch Hetchy Wilderness of Yosemite National Park, I had the great pleasure of watching this "Black" Bear traverse the raging falls. Maybe if I said nothing here, you would all think intuitively that this fella is fishing for his next meal, but in reality it is a much more dynamic situation. He is not fishing, he is looking for a way across this torrent and it still to this day amazes me how powerful this beast was as he jumped in and found his way across - any human would die doing the same.
