ORDER-24"x36"-Limited Edition Fine Art Print ----------------------------
"When we recall the past, we usually find that it is the simplest things - not the great occasions - that in retrospect give off the greatest glow of happiness." ~ Bob Hope
When I executed this capture, it was with intent to capture it in a way that didn't really fall in line with so many others I've seen produced of the scene. People working their technical complexities to capture and record all the detail of tones, shadows and highlights.
What I knew is that if I shoot this the way everyone else shoots it, the way I have shot things like this in the past, I'll be limited in my expression. What I cared about most simply was punctuating the autumnal glow, not every complex detail in the scene. I cared little about the texture of the waterfall, or the sky, or the crisp outline of every leaf and branch. I just wanted the source of my happiness, the glow. While everyone else struggled to find the perfect exposure, I chose a different more simplistic approach...blow out the glow and let the complex details melt away. Simple and happy.
